(NASHVILLE, Tennessee) -- In an effort to help bridge her new adult-oriented worship album, "Roots for the Journey," with her younger fans, Yancy has created a free companion app that will help parents teach each song's scriptures and Biblical truths to their children through devotions, conversations, prayers and activities. "Roots for the Journey" was released on May 21st from Elevate Entertainment, and the app is available now.

Yancy started off making a lullaby record based on scriptures that she wanted to pass on to her son. Through the recording process, she realized that these songs had more potential then to just be lullabies. Yancy spends most of her time doing family concerts and making music and worship resources that play in minivans and churches worldwide. So she began to consider how could she mix her younger audiences with this new music she created, and with that, the idea of an app was born. The "Roots for the Journey" App for iPhone, iPad and Android was specifically designed to give parents tools to make these scriptures come alive to their children.

"You could do parts of the devotion on the go, in the car, during dinner or whenever your family is gathered together," explains Yancy. "There are multiple ways you can talk about and reinforce the truth of God's Word. The song as you listen will help that message be tied to a melody that kids can latch onto and sing. Music is an amazing way to communicate. It sticks with us. We all remember songs from long ago. What better thing to plant in your kids heart then the Word of God that fills these songs and messages."

In creating the "Roots for the Journey" app, Yancy asked family ministry friends from around the world to help her make these Biblical truths come alive. The app benefited from the advice and expertise of Sam Luce, Ryan and Beth Frank (K Magazine/Awana), Gina McClain, Beth Guckenberger, Dave & Beci Wakerley (Hillsong), Johnny Rogers (KidMo), Jonathan Cliff, Jenny Funderburke, Jason Martin, Jen Galley, Sara Richards, Brian Dollar (High Voltage), Amanda White (www.ohamanda.com), Reggie Joiner (Orange Conference, 252 and First Look Curriculums) and Children's Ministry pioneer (and Yancy's father), Jim Wideman.

Yancy, Christian music's reigning Queen of Diversity, has released radio friendly pop/rock albums and multiple projects for kids and young adults, all while sharing the stage with such artists as Mute Math, Newsboys and Nichole Nordeman. As a writer, Yancy has teamed up with Third Day's Mac Powell, wrote Avalon's #1 hit "I Don't Want To Go" (which Yancy covers on "Roots for the Journey") and Jaci Velasquez's "Something Beautiful," and still found the time to compose two devotional books for worship leaders and musicians and a devotional book for pre-teens.
